Creating Time & Space for Healing Imaginations

Healing is a spiritual, physical, and mental practice and process. As a practice, it requires attentive and dedicated time and space. As a process, it is happening on a moment to moment basis, such as when we take a breath. When we take a deep breath we are engaging our anti-inflammatory responses, allowing us to repair tissues and cells in our body. Healing replenishes, nourishes, and repairs our entire beingness.

Healing is ecological requiring us to breathe clean air with every breath, it requires access to a calm and safe space for deep sleep, it requires social justice so we no longer face the trauma and stress of discrimination.

Healing is Kinship and mutualistically symbiotic with all living beings.  In creating a garden to nourish local biodiversity, we are also ingesting vital microbes that will travel to our guts to fortify our immune system and lower stress hormones. We are also in the sun, seamlessly absorbing and processing vitamin D for the nourishment of our bones, digestive, cardiovascular and endocrine systems. This healing practice rooted in the Land regenerates all of our systems and it provides local biodiversity with a new place for growth. Through our Kinship and mutualistic symbiosis, we create multiple pathways of healing for all beings.

Healing is interrelational and dependent on our social infrastructures. Whether it is a parent healing their child or a community kitchen feeding its people or people spending time sharing love with all Kin.

Healing is abundant. Every time we take a breath we are healing, when we are interacting with our communities we are healing, when we are in Kinship with all living beings we are healing,

Those of us who are experiencing colonisation, discrimination, and marginalisation are often told that our healing practices are not valid as they are not scientifically robust according to western conceptualisations. Yet, they have been healing us for millennia, they are the reason we are still here.
